McLeese Lake, originally Mud Lake, is a lake in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada. It is located on the Cariboo Highway (British Columbia Highway 97) and is an unincorporated community.

It is named for the lake of the same name, which itself was named for Robert McLeese, a pioneer storekeeper, hotelier and steamboat owner and MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia).

McLeese Lake sits north of Williams Lake and south of Quesnel, British Columbia.

McLeese Lake is a popular lake with the tourists, as they visit year round. In the summer months people enjoy fishing, canoeing or just laying around soaking up the sun. Many people enjoy hiking in there area as there is a lot of interesting things to see. Camping is also available as well as horseback riding.

In the winter months folks take to the ice with skates, or drill a hole through the ice in hopes of a good catch for rainbow trout and kokanee. There are trails for cross country skiing and snowmobiling.

There is a nice rest area pull out which is located right along side Highway 97. There are washrooms and picnic tables available.
