My niece sent me some photos that she took from their hike up to the Houston Palisades. From the Palisades you have an amazing view l and can see for miles.
In one of her shots, you can clearly see Silverthorne Lake (Erickson), where you can get some good fishing. Some years ago we fished on the lake and caught some nice trout, but I know people who have caught trout up around eight pounds.

Silverthorne Lake is located in Houston's Community Forest where in the winter months you can cross-country ski, or you can snowshoe along the many trails that were built just for this by the Morice Mountain Nordic Ski Club. The club does maintain the trails in the winter.
It is a small pretty lake, and it does have some facilities, such as picnic tables close to the shoreline, fire pits, boat launch and a nice covered area if it should rain.
In another picture, you can see our beautiful, small town of Houston way in the distance.
